If you ask me what I do, I’ll tell you I get to do some cool a** work — work that impacts lives across classrooms, boardrooms, and communities.

I’m an introvert who values depth over noise. I believe in real connection. I show up fully… and when I’ve peopled long enough, I go recharge so I can come back sharper.

Education has been my throughline for nearly 30 years — as a student, a mom of two college students, a classroom teacher, faculty member, and administrator. That journey led my husband and me to build J Morris Enterprises, LLC, where I now coach, consult, train, and speak on:

• Personal & Professional Development
• Business Development for Women
• Intentional Living

My work is rooted in one belief: it should be life-building and legacy-changing. Anything less is busy work.

In 2020, I was invited to envision and develop the Jerry J. Dawson Civic Leadership Institute — a multi-million-dollar initiative funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Through that work, high school students have explored civic careers, earned certifications, completed internships with major employers, and graduated debt-free with associate degrees.

That’s impact. Not theory.

I taught my first college class at 23. Since then, I’ve worked across public K-12 systems, private liberal arts institutions, and historically Black colleges and universities — from recruitment and accreditation to executive-level strategy. I’ve partnered with presidents, foundation directors, and community leaders.

And here’s what I’ve learned:
The greatest value I bring is being fully, authentically me.

Building our business has required betting on myself — again and again. It’s been the hardest and easiest decision I’ve ever made. And every time, it has paid dividends — expected and unexpected.
